BridgeWave Increases Worldwide Adoption Of High-Speed, Secure Gigabit Wireless Networking While Expanding Its Roster Of International Distribution Partners

BridgeWave Communications, the leading supplier of gigabit wireless solutions, has announced the expansion of the company's international channel operations through agreements with distribution partners in Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia. The increased global footprint will help BridgeWave further accelerate emerging market opportunities for high-speed, secure and reliable wireless links that offer enterprises, government entities and network operators the highest levels of network capacity and service availability.

To date, the company has deployed thousands of 60 GHz and 80 GHz wireless gigabit radios to support LAN backbone extensions, high-capacity access services as well as emerging WiMAX/4G mobile backhaul applications. These spectrum bands were initially allocated for commercial use in the United States by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The unique attributes of this spectrum permit cost-effective deployment of "wireless fiber" solutions, offering fiber-equivalent performance, reliability and security. Based on the growing demand for gigabit-speed voice, video and data connectivity, frequency regulators are rapidly allocating this spectrum for use in countries in every region of the world.

According to Jim McGowan, vice president of strategic and international accounts for BridgeWave, the company's ability to attract strong channel partners continues to fuel aggressive global expansion. "Thanks to increased sales momentum, international business now is the company's fastest growing segment," he says. "We will continue to work closely with the top international distributors and VARs as well as spectrum regulators worldwide to extend the global benefits of cost-effective GigE wireless connectivity."

BridgeWave's latest distribution pacts include the following international distributors and value-added resellers:

  • 802 Global – United Kingdom
  • Duxbury Networking – South Africa
  • MULTICOM s.r.l. – Italy
  • Monitorización y Medidas –Spain
  • Diginet - Belgium
  • COTOP Consulting – Hong Kong
  • ATI Australia Pty - Australia
  • LinkIT – New Zealand & Australia

Since Ofcom opened the 80 GHz spectrum in March of 2007, the opportunities in the United Kingdom have been steadily growing. "We have numerous BridgeWave systems installed in a variety of vertical markets all over the country," says Tim Close, the managing director of 802 Global. "This is an example of where BridgeWave has brought to market the right solution, with the right mix of features, at the right price, at the right time."
