Since the fraud liability shift in October 2015, the majority of merchants now accept EMV, and the majority of cards have converted to chip cards. Visa is reporting that 47% of merchant locations are chip-enabled and MasterCard reports 44%. Visa also announced they have processed over 1 billion EMV chip card transactions in the U.S. since the shift.
