Beyond Mandate-Driven RFID Solutions

Most suppliers have chosen to resort to the cheapest solutions possible, known as slap-and-ship tagging, to comply with Wal-Mart's RFID supplier mandates. Wal-Mart's basic requirements can be met by having an employee standing at the end of an assembly line slapping a properly encoded RFID tag onto Wal-Mart-bound cases of products. However, there are a small number of suppliers who have chosen to go beyond the minimum requirements of the mandate, seeking an RFID solution which provides additional internal supply chain benefits.
