Learn to say NO!
One trait that all successful (and happy) people that I know have is the ability to say no. No matter what your role is in the company, your success depends less on what you do and more on what you don’t do. Every job has a few things that if done consistently will yield results. The problem is that most people do a lot of other things. What are those things for you?
If you have a proactive job like sales, vCIO, or network admin, you need to say no more than others. Your day is filled with clients and co-workers and service tickets. Take a step back and ask yourself, what is my job? Ultimately, how will I be judged, and how will I judge my own success?
