Auto~Star Compusystems Certifies Epson Omnilink DT-Series For Next-Generation Thin Client And Cloud Applications

Las Vegas, NV – Today Epson America, Inc., a leading supplier of value-added Point of Sale (POS) solutions, announced that Auto~Star Compusystems Inc., a leading developer of POS and retail management software, has certified Epson’s OmniLink ™ DT-series (device terminal) for its Star~Plus POS software. The company will sell and support Epson’s OmniLink DT-series devices for thin client and cloud applications in a variety of retail segments, including supermarket, pharmacy, and health & natural products. Auto~Star’s Star~Plus software is a scalable solution, with customizable modules such as Customer Loyalty, Accounts Receivable, Inventory Control and Biometrics designed for today’s retailers. Epson’s OmniLink DT-series combines industry-leading POS printing, a cloud-based services platform, peripheral connectivity and PC computing power – all in one compact footprint. When integrated with Auto-Star’s cloud solutions, retailers can further reduce their initial costs and allocate capital in more efficient means.

“Our customers want to free up counter space, without sacrificing powerful POS functionality, and the Epson OmniLink DT definitely delivers,” commented Robert Symmonds, President of Auto~Star Compusystems. “This device is small and sleek, but very powerful – it is jam-packed with functionality. We’re looking forward to diving in and realizing the potential of Epson’s OmniLink DT devices, and our first pilot is in the works.”

“We’re committed to supporting next-generation POS solutions,” commented Gregg Brunnick, director of marketing for Epson’s Business Systems Division. “OmniLink – with embedded ePOS-print technology provides an ideal platform for retailers deploying cloud and mobile POS solutions, and we’re looking forward to working with Auto~Star to support them as they move forward with OmniLink deployments.”

Epson’s OmniLink DT-series is designed for retailers looking to implement any number of POS configurations to gain the benefits of mobile POS and increased POS functionality. The devices include a retail-hardened PC with either POSReady 7 or Linux operating system, powered by an Intel Atom 1.8GHz processor ─ all integrated into its ultra-small footprint. The OmniLink DT-series devices are compliant with established software standards and include six USB ports for connecting POS peripherals like scanners, keyboards, displays and cash drawers. Because of its embedded PC with VGA output, the OmniLink DT units can drive kiosk applications and kitchen display systems (KDS), and also can support mobile POS deployments with the added capability of a built-in web server and Epson’s ePOS-print technology for driverless web-based printing. Epson’s renowned reliability combined with Auto-Star’s state of the art point of sale technology provides an all-in-one solution for retailers.
