This summer, AffinityLive added asset tracking to its professional services automation (PSA) software.

“We’ve known for a while asset tracking is a pretty important touch point for MSPs [managed services providers],” Geoff McQueen, founder and CEO of AffinityLive, says. “It’s the last piece to make it the best PSA for the MSP user base.”

AffinityLive’s new Assets Module allows you to create your own “mini-database” of information about your IT clients’ assets, storing data, for example, on computers, servers, routers, or software. It features the ability to customize fields for different asset types, so you can track details such as hard drive space on a computer. Premium accounts also have the capability to of making field visible only to users who are granted access, enabling you to store sensitive data you don’t want to share with your whole team.

You can also query and filter using these custom fields. For example, you could find all clients running a certain OS that needs a patch, or you could search for users who use a particular solution and have the end of their fiscal year approaching. From the Asset view or from the view screen of a sale, project, issue/ticket or contract/retainer, you can link an asset to work you are doing. In addition, assets can have their own tasks, so you can set a reminder to follow up when an asset is close to the end of its warranty.

MAXfocus and Kaseya users also have one-click import of assets in your remote monitoring and management (RMM) system to AffinityLive.

McQueen said feedback to the Asset Module has been positive, with users appreciating not having to switch back and forth between records of a client’s assets and AffinityLive. He added, however, “The main thing is the ability to query across all assets and customize what those fields are.”

Fields aren’t limited to tracking IT assets, and, as McQueen points out, MSPs not only use AffinityLive but they can also sell it. AffinityLive is receiving feedback that the Asset Module is helping advertising agencies track inventories for billboards and accountants and lawyers track their clients’ end of fiscal year or entity type.
