BSM-Security Camera

Each month, Business Solutions reports news on business in the channel. This month in Access Control And Video Surveillance news, companies announce a surveillance appliance for distributed environments, an option for upgrading from analog to IP with legacy coax infrastructure, a new panoramic camera, and a new door controller and network camera.

Pivot3 Announces Surveillance Appliance For Distributed Environments

Pivot3 has announced the release of its vSTAC Watch Edge R2 appliances that are designed for distributed sites requiring shared storage with virtual servers. The new appliance line is certified to operate with Genetec Security Center v.5.2 SR3, enabling additional storage and video management choices. The appliances handle up to 8 TB of RAID storage supporting Genetec Security Center software, a unified security platform that combines various IP security systems into a single solution. Genetec qualified the appliance to support 100 cameras. Up to four vSTAC Edge R2s can be configured together delivering up to 32 TB of Internet small computer system interface storage area network (iSCSI SAN) and four virtual servers. The combined server-storage appliances include integrated application failover for backup servers without the need for complex cabling, dedicated hardware, or specialized software.

Altronix eBridge Allows Up To Four IP Cameras On One Coax Cable

Altronix offers a new option for upgrading from analog to IP with the eBridge4SK kit. It allows four IP devices to replace a single analog camera over legacy coax infrastructure. The new eBridge4SK kit consists of the eBridge4SPT transceiver with an integral four-port managed Power over Ethernet plus (PoE+) switch that transmits IP data to the head-end, and an eBridge1SPR receiver that passes system power up the coax over 1500 feet (5X maximum Ethernet distance) without the need for repeaters. Local or remote monitoring indicates port status, device status, and real-time power consumption. Additionally, the unit’s individual ports may be enabled or disabled as desired. The eBridge4SPT also features auto detection and protection to prevent damage to legacy non-PoE cameras/devices.

Axis Communications Unveils IP-Based Access Controller, New Network Camera

Axis Communications has entered the physical access control market with its first network door controller. AXIS A1001 Network Door Controller features built-in Web-based software, open architecture to enable integration of video and intrusion detection; and Power over Ethernet (PoE) support to reduce the need for separate power and proprietary cables. It automatically synchronizes and stores cardholder data and system configuration information between controllers, and supports most reader types.

Axis also announced an addition to its line of fixed cameras for outdoor surveillance. AXIS Q1765-LE features IR LEDs to allow the camera to see at least 50 feet away in the widest field-of-view and up to 130 feet in full view without additional lighting. It includes software for connection to hosted video systems, and it meets ONVIF (open network video interface forum) compliance standards for camera system integration. It includes the AXIS Camera Application Platform for application developers to provide the camera with intelligent capabilities.

Arecont Vision Introduces Panoramic Camera

Arecont Vision introduced the SurroundVideo 12MP WDR 360˚ panoramic camera. It is a 12-megapixel, 360˚ panoramic camera that also features wide dynamic range (WDR) functionality. The WDR technology delivers a dynamic range of up to 100 dB at full resolution without lowering the frame rates. By combining long and short exposures in the same field of view, it maximizes the amount of detail in both bright and dark areas of a scene. Four, 3-megapixel WDR image sensors each provide 2,048 x 1,536-pixel resolution for a total resolution of 8,192 x 1,536-pixels. The camera’s dome housing is IP66 rated for dust and water resistance and IK10 rated for vandal resistance. The camera complies with ONVIF (open network video interface forum) standards.
