Access Control And Video Surveillance News From December 2014

Each month, Business Solutions reports news on business in the channel. This month in access control and video surveillance news, Honeywell expands its line of pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras and VIVOTEK introduces the smallest 5 MP fisheye network camera.

Honeywell Expands Line Of PTZ Cameras

Honeywell expanded its HDZ Series of pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras with the addition of analog technology that gives options for augmenting video surveillance systems. The newest analog HDZ PTZ camera offers image quality comparable to the line’s IP cameras — up to 1080p resolution — and indoor/outdoor zoom and 360-degree capabilities. Series features include image stabilization and wide dynamic range (WDR) for high-contrast and changing light condition. Mounting options are available for both indoor and outdoor applications, and the outdoor units are housed in IP66-rated tamper-resistant domes to protect the cameras from dust and water.

VIVOTEK Debuts The Smallest 5 MP Fisheye Network Camera

VIVOTEK launched a 90 mm-diameter, 5 MP fisheye network camera, the FE8180. It features wide dynamic range (WDR) enhancement and 3D noise reduction. The camera has a 1.57 mm fisheye lens for 180-degree panoramic view (wall mount) or 360-degree surround view (ceiling, floor, or table mount). With the ePTZ and Pixel Calculator functions, users can zoom in and focus on a region of interest. A mount bracket is available that permits wall or ceiling mounting. In addition, the FE8181/81V model of the camera is equipped with a removable IR-cut filter for day-and-night functionality and a built-in 10-meter IR illuminator for uniform lighting across a 360-degree surround view.
