ABBYY Launches Business Card Reader 4.0 For The iPhone

New Version Delivers Smart and Searchable Mobile Archive for Business Cards and Now Reads Korean Text

ABBYY, a leading provider of document recognition, document capture, and linguistic technologies and services, recently announced ABBYY Business Card Reader 4.0, a new version of its business card reading and contact managing application for the Apple iPhone. In addition to the direct transfer of contact data from business cards to the iPhone address book, the updated version allows users to easily upload recognised photos of business cards to the new CardHolder archive, making the images searchable and convenient to use.

CardHolder allows iPhone users to quickly upload, recognise and archive images of their business cards, and transfer selected contacts into their phone's address book as needed. This helps back-up contact information contained in the address book, track the communication history of business contacts and keep seldom used contact data in a separate location. Additionally, CardHolder provides a quick search option and sorts captured photographs by first name, last name, company name and photo creation date. Contact fields of the photos stored in CardHolder are also "clickable" so a user can dial a phone number, send an e-mail or activate any link directly from the image with a single touch.

ABBYY Business Card Reader 4.0 allows users to instantly search for information about new contacts across popular social and business networks such as Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn, and online maps. The application now recognises text in Korean, bringing the total number of supported languages to 20, including both monolingual and multilingual business cards.

The free trial version of ABBYY Business Card Reader 4.0 for the iPhone allows users to preview recognition results on the device's display, save the full name and first detected phone number to the address book, and upload up to 3 images of business cards to CardHolder. The trial also supports the look-up of relevant information about the contact in Facebook.

Availability
ABBYY Business Card Reader 4.0 for the iPhone and the free trial version are available via the Apple AppStore, accessible through iTunes. Supported interface languages are English, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Russian. Supported devices include the Apple iPhone 3G, 3GS and 4 (OS 3.1 or later) with autofocus.
