A Big Move Into Managed Services

When we last visited One Source Solutions in 2002, the company was a six-person POS shop. Today, it’s a 26-employee (and counting) provider of managed ERP services.
As Business Solutions magazine closes one volume and opens another — strike that — two more (see my Reality Check column on page 50), I thought it apropos to take a stroll down memory lane and revisit a memorable reseller I put on our cover way back in 2002. I called John Ford, VP of operations and cofounder of VAR-turned-MSP One Source Solutions, a man who was the subject of one of my first feature stories in Business Solutions back when I was a wet-behind-the-ears associate editor for the magazine. The story was a memorable one if for no other reason than the cover that graced the issue. Ford and his cofounders, Tim O’Handley, president, and Jose Chas, VP of Sales, had just landed a high-profile client in The Redskins Store, the merchandise and apparel chain based at FedEx Field, home of the Washington Redskins. FedEx Field granted the trio and our photographer access to the field for a fun photo shoot, complete with Ford and his colleagues doing their best impressions of a 1950s-era football card.
