SAN (storage area network) Solution Helps Hospital Speed Up Medical Assistance

Business Solutions, February 2003

Oldelft Benelux BV is a Dutch vertical market reseller/systems integrator specializing in medical imaging. The hardware and software components Oldelft uses must be flexible, scalable, and interoperable with popular platforms and operating systems due to the differing requirements at each hospital it works with. Oldelft needed to give medical professionals accessible, fast, and reliable online access to current and historical X-rays simultaneously.

For its online X-ray viewing solution, Oldelft integrated Rogan Medical System's HyperPACS software suite with Dot Hill's Fibre channel SANnet 7124 as the storage component. "We selected the SANnet storage system primarily because of its performance, scalability, and high availability," said Guido Geerts, managing director of Oldelft Benelux. Dot Hill's SANnet has been tested and certified to deliver 99.9998% uptime - that's less than 40 seconds of unplanned downtime per year. "The ability to view current and historical X-rays simultaneously gives doctors a broader picture of a patient's medical health," said Geerts. "Dot Hill's SANnet systems integrated with Rogan Medical's HyperPACS product suite help physicians make better and faster diagnoses."
