With the economy slowly improving, retailers are finally starting to unlock their technology budgets. Large chains are opening new stores, renovating existing locations, and launching new branding campaigns, while specialty retailers are beginning to adopt new technology to improve operations. Suppliers and resellers of all-in-one point of sale (POS) systems stand to make gains over the next several years as retailers look for effective, affordable POS solutions with a focus on ease of deployment and price. "End users no longer feel they should pay more for business-grade hardware than for consumer-grade hardware," says Shaun Kiely, senior business development manager at POS-X. "This, coupled with the current economic situation, has driven POS manufacturers to offer POS hardware with more features at a lower price point than previously offered."
