NewWave Cruise Recognizes Vendors, Partners

Business Solutions, May 2008

(Boston) — For the past eight years, ECM distributor NewWave Technologies has hosted a dinner cruise in conjunction with the AIIM Conference & Expo to recognize its top 300 VARs and business partners. This year's cruise set off on "The Spirit of Boston," providing vendor partners an opportunity to showcase their offerings in a relaxed and festive setting.

As a guest on the cruise, I was able to speak with many of the VARs in attendance. Some of these VARs had interesting new methods to leverage opportunity in the ECM marketplace. For instance, Gary Armstrong, president of Imaging 411, spoke to me about the importance of hardware maintenance as a value-add the VAR provides to its customers. However, Armstrong explained to me that offering hardware maintenance has led to another revenue-generating venture. The VAR has branched off into the 'green' movement with a new company called Scanner Traders, in which repaired and remanufactured scanning hardware and parts are sold.

It will be interesting to see what innovations have been sparked by the conversations held by vendors and VARs while on this cruise. NewWave plans to continue the cruise tradition next year, when the AIIM Conference returns to Philadelphia.
