Installation Review: Chance Call Leads To Successful Wireless Infrastructure Project

By Pedro Pereira, Business Solutions magazine.

Sometimes it pays to take a chance. Such was the case when a Business Communications Inc. (BCI) sales rep cold-called the superintendent of the El Dorado, AR, School District. It just so happened that El Dorado was building a high school to accommodate district growth and needed a contractor to install the school's wireless communications infrastructure.

"The superintendent said, 'We're building a new school, and we have a lot of needs,'" recalls BCI general manager Blake Denison. "It was just blind luck."

Blind luck or not, BCI wasted no time preparing a proposal for the school district, which runs eight campuses for 4,650 students. The company has vast wireless infrastructure experience, and Cisco has recognized it for customer satisfaction excellence.

"Our involvement began with consultation to help determine the needs and desired outcomes, says Denison. "We described the need and benefit of a solid wireless infrastructure and foundation to support today's and tomorrow's technology growth."

BCI won the bid, even though it wasn't the lowest, by gaining the district's trust with the breadth of its portfolio and technical expertise.

The district now has a high school with state-of-the-art wireless infrastructure that fits into the district's commitment to quality education.
