Closing The Backup And Disaster Recovery Gap: AIT And StorageCraft ShadowProtect

Source: StorageCraft Technology Corporation

No one can predict a disaster. Big or small, catastrophic or simply annoying, they strike without warning. Unfortunately, many small and medium businesses (SMBs) are not prepared to deal with disasters. As any good IT administrator knows, the way to prepare for disaster is to create a solid backup and disaster recovery (BDR) plan that is comprehensive, addresses specific company needs, and relies on forethought and testing. Because of their size and various circumstances, however, many SMBs do not have the IT budget to spend on multiple, dedicated staff or complicated solutions. Nor do they always have the institutional knowledge to understand the consequences of not having a plan or they are intimidated by the process of testing. They often fear that developing a plan will interfere with their day-to-day operations. As such, many SMBs are woefully unprepared when disaster strikes. In reality, many large businesses are unprepared as well.

One of the purposes of a good managed service provider (MSP) is to mitigate this risk. Where businesses don't have the resources or knowledge to protect themselves from even small IT problems, MSPs are able to provide planning and solutions for a reasonable cost. For the MSP, then, the challenge is not only to evaluate the real needs of their client, but to then identify and deploy technologies that can address these needs efficiently, reliably and cost-effectively.
