Aldelo's Reseller Conference Highlights New Version Release

Business Solutions, January 2008

Harry Tu and Mike Monocello(Orlando, FL) — POS (point of sale) software manufacturer Aldelo Systems recently held its annual reseller conference and made some announcements that should help its VARs overcome challenges and find success. For instance, Aldelo announced the availability of 24/7/365 support as of Nov. 1, 2007. So well received was this news that VARs in attendance gave Aldelo CEO Harry Tu a round of applause.

However, even more buzz surrounded Tu's announcement regarding version 4.0 of Aldelo Restaurants Pro. Unlike recent updates to its restaurant POS software, 4.0 is the result of a complete rewrite of the software. The new version, publicly available in March 2008, promises radical changes that will benefit VARs. "The target customers for Aldelo 4.0 are medium to large restaurant and retail franchises with complex operations," says Tu. "The software can be used to manage everything from products, menus, inventory, and recipes, to labor scheduling. In addition, we've included a new reporting system with filters as well as the capability for automatic mirroring and failover protection of data." The program also features a Web services API (application program interface), which will give ISVs (independent software vendors) opportunities to create and sell add-on functionality. All of this comes at an opportune time for hospitality POS VARs. During the Aldelo presentation, it was shared that according to the National Restaurant Association (NRA), 30% of fine dining operators plan to devote a larger share of their budgets to technology in the coming year. With its new product and service offering, Aldelo is putting its VARs in position to capitalize on this future trend.
