CompTIA Survey Paves Path To Success
3/1/2017
CompTIA recently unveiled the results of its annual State of the Industry survey. As with past years, the results contained some very comp elling information regarding the state of the industry, the channel, and business trends. According to CompTIA, a total of 280 U.S. IT companies participated in the survey, which yields an overall margin of sampling error at 95 percent confidence (+/- 6.0 percentage points). Some of the highlights of the study include:

How Long Will You Be Relevant?
1/1/2017
This year’s Best Channel Vendors survey again afforded me the opportunity to study a lot of valuable data to glean insights from readers about their vendor partners. For the past few years, I’ve taken a deeper dive into the data in an attempt to unearth trends that might not be obvious at a cursory glance. The results this year are similar to last year’s, not so far as the specific winners and losers are concerned, but with trends in the overall data.

We’re coming up on nearly a decade since we launched our annual Executive Insight series, which appears in the magazine each December. The goal of this section is to have leading executives from the industry share their insights on the current year and recommended actions for the upcoming year concerning markets and technologies.

Lessons From The Road
11/11/2016
As this issue reaches everyone’s mailbox in the first week of December, I’ll be wrapping up my last business trip of the year by attending Ingram Micro’s fall ONE conference in Las Vegas. Including this trip, my fall event calendar was pretty full. Between partner conferences, expos, trade shows, and Business Solutions’ own events, I hit up eight events over the past few months. While each event was different, in looking back through my notebook, I see some repeating trends. Additionally, there are some important comments I haven’t been able to share until now.

“A Magazine For An Industry That’s Arrived”
4/13/2016
The above headline was used 30 years ago for the “From The Editor” in the first issue of Business Electronics magazine. In Robert Mueller’s article, the editor and associate publisher wrote that the office automation industry had experienced many changes, with many more to be expected.

“The greatest power you have is to talk with your people during times of change and uncertainty.” That’s how Dr. Robert Bies, the keynote speaker for RSPA INSPIRE 2016 in San Diego, began today, the final day of the conference for leaders in the retail IT channel.

Innovation Is Job #1 On Day #2 Of RSPA INSPIRE 2016
2/2/2016
“Innovation” was one of the trending words at NRF’s Big Show a couple weeks ago and I’m hearing it over and over again at RSPA INSPIRE 2016. The conference for executives in the retail IT channel is taking place at the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort in San Diego, CA.

6 Words Most Heard At NRF 2016
1/26/2016
NRF 2016 was in my rear view mirror when I caught a late shuttle bus Jan. 19, but it’s taken me a full week to assemble and analyze my copious notes from the event. I just quickly searched what I jotted down, and these six words appeared the most often.

No Crystal Ball Needed For Success In 2016
11/12/2015
2016 is just a few holiday parties away and will be here before we know it. This month prior is a good opportunity to take a step back and reflect on the past year. What has your company done well? Are there wins you should be celebrating? What will your company look like in the years to come? What have you struggled with? Are you taking steps to ensure that those same struggles don’t occur in 2016?
