Wholesale Distributor Reduces Loss Prevention Risk With Video Surveillance System
This case study from MOBOTIX takes a look at Graybar Canada, an employee-owned wholesale distributor of electrical equipment, communications, lighting, automation, utilities, and security in the Canadian marketplace. Graybar was facing a variety of challenges, having their Halifax headquarters victimized by graffiti and their warehouse in Markham experiencing loss prevention issues and illegal dumping on their property.
With a warehouse spanning 40,000 square-feet, complete surveillance coverage is very challenging and the need to secure perimeters to protect against vandalism and illegal dumping only further complicates the issue. Graybar wanted a surveillance system that would allow cameras from Markham and Halifax to send video data to the company’s command center in Halifax. The system in Halifax would incorporate motion detection to record when someone entered a room and then notify all managers. The system also needed to use minimal bandwidth and offer remote access to allow multiple staff members to view video as needed.
Graybar Canada is an authorized distributor for several industry-leading security solutions companies, so they had a keen understanding of the current product landscape and were able to easily and quickly select the solution that best fit their needs.
