A lot of MSPs have voiced concerns about large vendors such as Amazon or Dell offering cloud products and closing the channel out of the IT sales loop. One way to avoid that possibility is to invest in your own private cloud — a secure, high-performance data center built to stream data to and from customers' locations via the Internet. One MSP, Expert Data Labs, has done just that, launching its private cloud offering in 2008. It has discovered that the product provides a point of differentiation with competitors and several other advantages — both for Expert Data Labs and its customers.
