The Future Of The SIP Phone Is Strong

Some software vendors and communications pundits are predicting the demise of the hard phone, including SIP phones. This appears to be inaccurate hype to bolster their SIP softphone license sales. A recent blog “SIP Phone Market Can Support More Manufacturers” points out several opposing arguments. SIP phone sales are expected to increase with more SIP phone models and manufacturers entering the market.

Another example supporting increased hard phone sales is the Eastern Management Group, which has stated the “SIP phone market is large and growing.” The market research firm believes there is opportunity for phone manufacturers to capture substantial market share with some of the best opportunities in the United States, Canada and Western Europe.

Most businesses are looking to implement SIP phones, far more than softphones. Nearly all cloud-based communications services support SIP phones. Additionally, there will continue to be many instances that require a hard phone, such as places where a desktop cannot be located or because safety and building codes require hard phones.
