The Future Of Mobility -- Convergence Or Divergence?
Peter Hortensius, Senior VP of the Think Product Group at Lenovo, talks with Jameson Publishing and Business Solutions magazine President Jim Roddy in this exclusive Executive-To-Executive interview. In this interview, Hortensius paints the current mobility landscape for resellers, suggests if VARs should be "cheering for" divergence or convergence, and gives advice regarding how resellers can stay abreast of tomorrow's mobility advancements.
Responding to how VARs should keep pace with mobility technology changes without getting overwhelmed, Hortensius says, "I get hundreds of emails a day to websites, but I haven't really learned much from that. I think one is counting on sources like yourselves (BSM) to help distill and really nail down what's the essence, what's really important to a given thing. I think the other thing is to take a very close look at what's happening in the consumer space. Both the smart phone space and the notebook space are increasingly driven by basically what's going on in the consumer market. That's the expectation now of business users. A business user has now an assumption that they can listen to a podcast like yours or they can communicate with various audio and video kinds of capabilities."
