Steve Jobs once said, “Deciding what not to do is as important as deciding what to do.” This was never more true for RSPA members than it i now. With so many new developments in the retail technology industry, and merchant customers’ urgent need for total solutions providers to advise them in a showrooming/social media marketing/mobile payment/dawn of EMV/PCI 3.0 world, RSPA members have to make a multitude of decisions on what to focus every day. Similarly, the RSPA’s Education department has spent 2013 making critical decisions on direction. By seeking knowledge from our member customers—spending time with members, asking questions, compiling information—we have taken apart the existing educational structure and have begun to build a foundation here at RSPA that will prepare our members before they even begin to make a new decision. With our new emphasis on the RSPA webinar series, and the re-assembling of RSPA Certified and individual certifications, we’re hoping to meet our members' current need to be equipped with new information and key differentiators, while gearg up to be their ultimate resource for industry-specific educational content.

Here’s a look at some of our 2013 initiatives (not to mention the hugely successful education at INSPIRE and RetailNOW), as we journeyed this year to decide what to do (and what not to do) to give our members a more holistic educational experience.
