BDR ComparisonWe compare 11 business continuity solutions. Which is right for you and your customers?

Backup and disaster recovery (BDR) solutions provide one of the core service offerings of most MSPs. As such, it’s important to select BDR products and partners that can address the needs of your customers. A quick look at the BDR landscape shows quite a few companies and products as available choices to MSPs. With so many options, it’s important that MSPs don’t feel the need to settle on products that come close to meeting their needs but don’t quite get there completely.

Business Solutions has been producing BDR product comparisons for a couple years now, helping IT solutions providers decide on which product to use or confirm- ing already-made decisions. Each year, we make a number of refinements to the comparisons, and this year is no exception. For instance, we’ve added some details that address the ever-changing nature of enterprise computing.

Gone are the days of backing up only physical PCs and servers. Today’s customers have apps and data in the cloud, are using various operating systems, and have mobile devices inside and outside the office. Backup and recovery, while seemingly a straightforward venture, is very complex, requiring powerful tools and software. So, without further delay, let’s look at the panel of products we’re comparing.

As with years past, we reached out to 17 different vendors to participate in this comparison. This roundup includes 11 different products from 9 different companies (see the chart below or the lineup, as well as key features and specs of the products). You’ll find that some of these companies/products are new to our comparisons. We asked each vendor to share specific product details, features, and capabilities so we could see how things have changed and how the products compare with one another. Like our other comparisons, our intent is not to pick a best product, favorite, or “editor’s choice,” but to arm you with the information you need to make your own informed decision based on your needs.
