Motorola Completes End-To-End PacketCable Multimedia Solution Through New Reseller Agreement With Sandvine
Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) today announced a new reseller agreement between Motorola and Sandvine Incorporated for Sandvine's award-winning PacketCable Multimedia (PCMM) application manager.
The Motorola PCMM solution enables Quality of Service (QoS) for the rollout of advanced, revenue-generating IP services. Sandvine's application manager plays a significant role in ensuring QoS by improving network control to give operators the ability to identify, analyze, mark and prioritize broadband traffic. Working together, Motorola and Sandvine offer operators the ability to upgrade the consumer broadband experience and branch into new services such as gaming, tiered data services and video telephony.
"Motorola is an industry leader in broadband delivery, and we are pleased to work with the company on an end-to-end PCMM solution," said Dave Caputo, President and CEO for Sandvine Incorporated. "For our part, Sandvine's application-level awareness and traffic management capabilities combined with our PCMM application manager functionality are providing the ideal architecture for operators to realize new, revenue-generating services while ensuring their subscribers' Quality of Experience (QoE)."
"As consumers continue to demand the latest in seamless communication and enhanced entertainment, QoS becomes increasingly important for maintaining a high standard of service delivery," said Charles Dougherty, corporate vice president and general manager, Motorola Connected Home Solutions. "We are delighted to work with Sandvine on the PCMM platform and to combine Sandvine's strong application management solution with our own proven PCMM products and services."
Components of the Motorola PCMM solution include the Motorola Broadband Services Router 64000 (BSR 64000) - the first Cable Modem Termination System (CMTS) to receive PCMM Qualification within DOCSIS 2.0 from CableLabs - Motorola's system integration services, and Sandvine's PCMM application manager. Through the non-exclusive reseller agreement with Sandvine, Motorola has become the only provider currently qualified to deliver both infrastructure equipment and system management applications based on the latest CableLabs standards applicable to PCMM.
