How To Choose Inventory Tracking Software

By Paul Trujillo, Product Marketing Manager, Wasp Barcode Technologies

Think about this. A customer calls in to make an order from a company. But a customer service rep fumbles around due to old, outdated software that’s slow and not meant for a growing business. They confirm the order would be ready and shipped by a certain date, only to later find out that an integral piece to the order is out of stock. This is not only frustrating, but think about their customer. In a noisy marketplace, they can easily move on to the next guy who can get their order right.

In today’s business culture, 56 percent of small businesses want to improve their customers’ experience and retain them. And 45 percent want to grow their customer base. However, consistent inventory mistakes due to lack of inventory management is not just an inconvenience, it costs them customers.

These challenges can be solved with inventory tracking software. Before you advise your clients on inventory tracking software, ask yourself two questions:

1. What Are Your Client’s Business Challenges?

  • Inefficient Operations. When employees have to take long periods of time to find inventory, either physically in the warehouse, or find information in a stack of spreadsheets, that’s a problem. Time saving is one of the primary purposes to make the switch to inventory tracking software. With the right system, your client should see a decrease in the amount of time it takes to place orders, receive products, and pick, pack and ship products to customers.
