Plug-and-Play, Out-of-the-Box Ready for iOS, Android and Windows 8 Mobile Devices

Recently at the Electronic Transactions Association (ETA) TRANSACT 14, Epson America, Inc., a leading supplier of value-added Point of Sale (POS) solutions, showcased its popular lineup of stationary and on-the-go printing solutions designed to work right out of the box and ideally-suited for connecting mobile POS (mPOS) devices. The dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP)-enabled printers allow for fast and easy network setup, reducing POS developer support requirements and greatly simplifying retailer and operator self-installation. The mPOS-friendly family includes four stationary versions, TM-T20II, TM-T70II, TM-T88V, TM-U220 and two mobile printers for on-the-go receipts, Mobilink P60II and Mobilink P80. Built with Epson’s ePOS technology, the printers can easily be integrated into native and cloud-/web-based environments and support iOS, Android and Windows devices.

According to a recent report by IHL Group, sales of mPOS devices are exploding, with new mPOS device shipments expected to grow more than 95% worldwide, and surpass 108% growth in North America in 2014. “Integrators, developers, and independent sales organizations are looking for mPOS complementary technologies that work out of the box,” commented Gregg Brunnick, Epson’s director of marketing for the Business Systems Division. “So we’ve taken our most popular POS printers and made them mPOS-friendly, making them super easy to install, which opens the door for anyone looking to add mPOS printing to existing systems.”

“This is a great move from Epson,” commented Rafael Tigay, VP of Operations for Lavu, Inc. “As developers, anything that makes it easier to talk to mobile devices is preferred. Now that the industry’s most reliable printers are easy to setup right out of the box, it’s a better fit for our small business customers.”

“We’re excited to be supporting innovative developers with best-of-breed solutions that work seamlessly with today’s most prolific mPOS devices,” noted Brunnick. “We’re looking forward to working with even more developers on solutions that integrate our mPOS-friendly products.”
