Data Protection: Tech Data U.S. Strengthens Data Protection Solutions Offering With BakBone
Tech Data Corporation recently announced that its Advanced Infrastructure Solutions Division (AIS) will distribute BakBone's NetVault : Backup StoreVault Edition. It enables value-added resellers (VARs) to deliver a versatile, competitively priced data protection, backup and restoration solution for a wide range of midsize businesses and larger enterprises or institutions with critical data storage and availability requirements.
"A comprehensive, reliable data backup and recovery solution is a vital data center component," said Tech Data Senior Vice President and General Manager, AIS, Pete Peterson. "As businesses of all sizes evaluate their needs for storing, managing and protecting information, they are turning to VARs for the expertise and insight necessary to deploy the appropriate solutions. With BakBone's NetVault: Backup, VARs can deploy a versatile solution that enables end users to establish a wide range of data backup procedures based on their own unique data consumption and storage needs."
"Our partnership with Tech Data and the AIS Division affords us the opportunity to engage a greater number of VARs focused on storage and data protection," said David Schneider, vice president of the strategic partners group at BakBone. "BakBone has developed award-winning Linux data protection capabilities, and through AIS, we're offering VARs a cost-effective, multi-platform solution end users are demanding."
The BakBone NetVault: Backup StoreVault Edition was specifically developed to leverage and support the NetApp StoreVault S500 storage array, for which Tech Data is the exclusive U.S. distributor. The BakBone NetVault: Backup StoreVault Edition can be deployed in data center environments utilizing multiple operating systems, including Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. It features intuitive management tools that can be used to centrally manage all data backup operations or enable individual departments and branch offices to manage their own unique data protection needs.
NetVault: Backup StoreVault Edition also simplifies the management of StoreVault appliances via unique Snapshot Management functionality that is fully integrated with NetVault: Backup StoreVault Edition. It enables users to generate, schedule and recover StoreVault snapshots from a single, graphical management interface.
Users also can leverage BakBone's NetVault: Backup Application Plugin-Modules (APMs) to customize their data storage activities for specific recovery scenarios, including disaster recovery, isolated device failure or data corruption. With BakBone's NetVault: Backup APMs, users can determine how often they backup their e-mail systems or CRM database and to which devices the data is stored. For example, critical customer information can be directed to virtual tape libraries that enable quick restoration if data is lost, while less crucial information can be stored on less-expensive tape or other disk-based devices.
"Dependable data backup and recovery solutions have become essential to the every-day business needs of our customers," said Audrey Levi, President of Altek Computer Group. "To ensure we have access to the latest products, providing our customers with the most efficient and cost-effective solutions on the market, it's important for us to build and leverage strong partnerships with industry leaders like Tech Data, BakBone and NetApp."
AIS will work closely with BakBone to develop channel programs and partner enablement activities to educate VARs on these data protection solutions. AIS will provide BakBone resellers with expert sales and technical support. To learn more, call (800) 237-8931, ext. 77121, or visit www.techdata.com.
